Charles Heimermann was introduced to classical music as a young boy while taking voice lessons from Professor Frederick Haywood, in Syracuse, New York. He was soon referred to the Columbus Boychoir (now American Boychoir) in Princeton, New Jersey, where he spent the next two years. He later studied music at Abilene Christian University in Texas.

 

In the years that followed he wrote and performed jazz and rock music in New York, Texas and Tennessee. In 1991, he made his reentry into classical music with his 45 minute composition, Mass of the Angels, which was then recorded in Russia in 1992. Mass of the Angels made its world premiere for the eightieth birthday of Pope John Paul II in May, 2000 in Rome. It premiered in Poland in December of 2000 for the fortieth anniversary of the Szczecin Boychoir and has been selected to have its American premiere with the Nashville Symphony at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center in the near future.

 

Heimermann, who is the Director of Music Ministries for Pennington United Methodist Church in Nashville, has also sung with the Nashville Symphony Chorus and Chamber Chorus and the Nashville Choir and frequently served as bass soloist in performance with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra in productions such as The Messiah, The Lord of the Rings Symphony, How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Beethoven's Fidelio. He is a member of the Nashville Composer’s Collective, which presents quarterly concerts featuring works of local composers. He also serves as a narrator and voice-over talent for a variety of clientele including the Nashville Symphony, Vanderbilt University, Digital Hero Games and more. He currently resides in Franklin, Tennessee.
